LyriX Public Release - Build 1.6.0.0
has just been uploaded to the website!
If you have not done so already, you
are welcome to go to the
Latest Downloads Page,
to get your LyriX up to date.
For all LyriX versions...
Added features, changes and
enhancements:
- When LyriX starts up, it makes sure
that the database to which it is connecting is not set as read-only. (This
could happen if you restore a backup from CD)
Bugs fixed:
- LED boards were not cleared when
exiting (on certain computers).
- LyriX stopped responding if you
selected “More event programs” after start-up and then tried to remove some
of the existing event programs.
- The LyricBase was not resorted
after a Song ID was changed.
- The wrong song in the song list was
sometimes marked as being displayed (Marked red in song list).
- The custom structure of a song in
the event program was reset if this song was edited.
- The song in the On-line panel did
not update correctly after editing the song and sending it again.
For LyriX Natural & Forté versions...
Bugs fixed:
- The backdrop image displayed in the
video scheme editor was not updated after it was cropped in the image
selector.
- Selecting a video scheme that is
currently being edited resulted in the wrong scheme being selected.
For LyriX Forté
version only...
Bugs fixed:
- If you changed the backdrop of the
first page of the scratchpad and attempted to reset that backdrop to the
default, it had no effect.
- If the backdrops in the scratchpad
were the default scheme’s backdrop and you changed the default scheme, the
backdrops in the scratchpad were not updated.
- If a PowerPoint presentation was
displayed with the PowerPoint Viewer, a “LyriX lost its connection to
PowerPoint Viewer” message was shown for every new presentation being sent.
- If no video output channel was
enabled to display media output, LyriX turned the “Display Media” option on
for the main video output channel, but did not warn the user about the
action.
- If a PowerPoint presentation was
being displayed and you opened the Output Channel Setup window followed by
pressing the Ok button, all the slide previews of the presentation would be
reset.
- If a video channel’s default scheme
was forced, the backdrop previews in the Preview and On-line panels did not
updated correctly.
Bugs fixed:
- There were certain PowerPoint files
that LyriX could not display in the file-selector when importing a
new presentation.
- When LyriX lost its connection to
PowerPoint and went through the re-connect process, some presentations would
still be on the Video Channel after you have sent a song.
- The process of re-connecting to
PowerPoint has been optimized.
(We found this necessary, as many PowerPoint users have not updated there
PowerPoint... and earlier releases of PowerPoint crash frequently.)
Needed Information:
- If you are using PowerPoint Viewer to display presentations, you will
not be able to access any multiple builds which are placed on the last slide
of the presentation.

LyriX Version 1.5.9.5 - RC2
has just been uploaded to the website!
This update will be available to every registered LyriX user. This will be the last
chance for feedback before the Public Release is deployed. Any input or
feedback from you will be appreciated! If you have not done so already, you
are welcome to go to the Support Page, to get your
LyriX up
to date.
A lot of effort has gone into this version - a
few of the fixes and additions are listed below...
For all LyriX versions...
Added
features, changes and enhancements:
- The print event program did not have an effective layout.
- The buttons on the preview of a report that you wanted to print did not
work correctly.
- You can now edit Liedboek songs if your Liedboek is registered.
Bugs
fixed:
- Sometimes when you sent a verse of a song for the first time, the
LyricBase tabs swapped on there own.
- If the NotesList was open and you sent a song, the incorrect song was
marked as sent in the SongList.
- If you selected and sent a song in the LyricBase with different default
and custom structures, the board editor did not load the correct structure.
- After editing the first line of the song, the first line in the
LyricBase or SongList did not update.
- You could not add new songs to the LyricBase without overwriting old
songs.
- This also caused problems with the Save and Search functions after new
songs were added.
- After sending a frame from the Preview Pane with the Send Frame
function, the frame in the preview was not marked as sent.
- Sometimes when you sent a frame which is not the first frame, the first
frame was sent.
- The Video Scheme Selector did not show the Name of schemes which did not
have previews.
- Invalid or corrupt images were not handled properly in the Video Scheme
Selector.
- The items in the Select Video Schemes screen were not sorted correctly.
- If you selected an empty item in the Video Scheme Selector, incorrect
data was displayed.
- The video output tab was not updated if you were editing a Video Scheme
and pressed To Video.
- When the display was cleared (with the Clear button), and the Video
Scheme was changed, the previous song was resent.
- You could remove a song from the LyricBase while it was still being
used.
- Printing problems:
- The event program did not print the First Lines field correctly.
- The border on the printer scheme could not use fractions (e.g. 1.5, 2.5)
- Select Printer Scheme did not select the correct scheme.
- If you changed the Description of a Printer Scheme, the change was not
saved.
- If you selected different printer on the Printer scheme dialog box, the
page sizes were not updated.
- The Password Protection checkboxes did not always enable password
protection.
- After changing Song Parts, the Custom Structure of the song was not
updated correctly.
- The New button on the toolbar could not create new notes without using
the drop-down menu.
- When editing a song or note, the icon (on the song-name tab) indicating
a change, did not ever appear.
- After clearing the Scratchpad, the (hidden) contents could still be
sent.
- If you sent a cleared scratchpad, a song was marked in the SongList.
- The red-marker in the scratchpad would always mark the first
frame.
- The Editor was enhanced.
- If you are in Off-Line mode and tried to send, the NO button in the
message box did the same as the YES button.
- If you Right-Click on the first two lines of the scratchpad, the Preview
Pane would be selected automatically.
- If you Double-Click a word in the Editor, the wrong word (or parts of a
word) was highlighted.
For LyriX Natural & Forté(Beta)
versions...
Added
features, changes and enhancements:
- The Re-import Media function now allows the re-use of the original image -
this affords the editing of the detail and/or the actual image.
- You can now manage still images directly from the main menu.
- The Blank-Video send to video channels will now always be black.
Bugs
fixed:
- The clear on shutdown (LED-boards) function did not work.
- If you had multiple video channels and you selected any video channel
except the first for preview, the preview that was displayed on the Video
Output Tab was incorrect.
For LyriX Forté(Beta)
versions...
Added
features, changes and enhancements:
- Working with backdrops and the preview of backdrops now use fewer resources.
- The way Backdrop-details were handled has been improved to use fewer
resources.
Bugs
fixed:
- A resource leak on the SongList caused serious memory loss.
- The 'Not Updated' label did not properly work if you changed the backdrop
of a song.
- If you had more than one non-forced video driver, the backdrop preview
was white.
- If you changed the video scheme of a video driver, and there was a song
in the editor which used that video driver’s video scheme, the backdrop
previews were not updated correctly.
- LyriX did not close PowerPoint after you closed LyriX (i.e. if you did
not have it open in the first place).

Monday, December 18, 2000
|
|
(Ready for download) Well, I do think that you should notice the difference! We have spend many
man-months since the last (public) beta. This should be the second last one.
After the next beta, we will deploy the Official LyriX Pre-Release. If your name
is not on the Pre-Release list, please contact Patric at MEG (011-792 4238).
In this beta:
- New Database
- Improved import and export features. It now allows you to export and
import in LyriX format. This will allow you to package your songs for use
remote systems. (Ideal for off-line editing of the LyriXBase, as all
formatting and song info is transferred as well.)
- Notes. A whole new way of handling announcements, sermon notes, etc. has
been added. See if you can figure it out!
- Greatly improved Auto-Scroll. (This is only available in the Notes List.)
- Printing of Songs and Song Lists (via Printer schemes - this is really
cool!)
- Usage reports
- Basic standard version Video features. (remember to Add a video driver in
Driver Setup, if you need one)
- Spelling checking according to the songs language (we included 2 English
and one Afrikaans dictionary)
- Improved Program Configuration
- Basically almost everything (for version 1) is in place!
(As there have been so many changes, the Help-File update is taking
considerable effort. I will notify you when this is ready for download.)

| Live Video test |
Monday, March 20, 2000
|
|
Last week the LyriX video driver pre-beta was tested live, and survived! LyriX was used to control the text that was displayed to the of congregation of more than 20000, via two video walls. By the end of the first night, we had the connections to the stage LED board working as well - all operated from one PC. The text on the video walls was clear and easy to read throughout the whole venue, even though the inherent construction of the walls are not extremely friendly to text (the matrix has gaps between the screens). We were able to compare two internal video cards (both producing SVHF and Composite video) to a professional Extron scan converter, with astounding results. A few downstream editing concepts were tried out too.
In conclusion, the video driver concept works extremely well, and should give numerous congregations around the world an opportunity to use LyriX as a chorus display system.
